HSF Comm. Update (Asteroid Mitigation Included in Evaluation Criteria?)
During today's deliberation on human space exploration architectures and evaluation criteria, there was talk of including the impact of these architectures upon asteroid mitigation as one part of the evaluation criteria for these architectures, specifically part of the "Expanding Human Civilization" criteria. In essence it seemed that Dr. Christopher Chyba, who was talking about this criteria. This was for the exploration architecture looking at potential NEO visits. Dr. Chyba implied that this architecture should be weighted more for this criteria given the effect on planetary defense.
