The 2009 Gene Shoemaker Near Earth Object Grants totaled $18,300 (US) and were awarded to three amateur astronomers and researchers:
- Russel Durkee, Minnesota, USA
- Robert Holmes, Illinois, USA
- Gary Hug, Kansas, USA
