Many of us are waiting for the public release of the December 2006 NASA report to congress on the next generation NEO search, characterization, and mitigation. This report should be delivered to Congress and hopefully both the executive summary and full report will be available from NASA sometime soon.
Both Lindley Johnson (NASA Headquarters) and Donald Yeomans (NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory) are scheduled to talk about this report at the upcoming 2007 Planetary Defense Conference.
This area will cover relevant news of the threat to the planet from Near Earth Objects (NEOs) including concepts and designs for mitigation. All opinions are those of the author.
